Webinar: Finance and biodiversity regulation

Together with the EU Finance@Biodiversity Community, the members of the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation organised a webinar on biodiversity-related policy and regulation that is relevant for financial institutions. The webinar was held on 28 September, 4.00-5.30pm CEST. Both EU- and UN-level policy developments were shared.

In this webinar, Basile van Havre, Co-Chair of the Open-Ended Working Group of the CBD gave information on the process and draft Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework that has been prepared for the global CBD COP15 negotiation process in October 2021 and April/May 2022. Furthermore, Jean-Christophe Nicaise Chateau, from the European Commission (DG FISMA) and Patrick de Cambourg from the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) updated us on the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) that is under development. This upcoming regulation is relevant for financial institutions because the reporting requirements for companies will influence financial institutions’ engagement and impact assessment efforts.
