Where are you living?

I live in Paris, intra-muros, as we say in French and work from home.

What is your academic background?

My background is scientific; I am a French Grande Ecole engineer with an ingénieur civil des Mines de Paris diploma. I also hold an MBA from HEC and a master’s in landscape architecture from Ecole Nationale du Paysage de Versailles.

Where were you working before you came here?

For the past two and a half years, I have been the Lead for financial markets at TNFD. In this role, I strived to bring financial institutions worldwide together to develop, implement, and report on their nature strategies. At the same time, I ensured that the TNFD technical team heard the voices of financial institutions and integrated their perspectives to create a reporting framework that would be meaningful for banks, asset owners, asset managers, and insurance providers.

What makes you excited about working at the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation?

At TNFD, we all focussed on the financial flows directed to the corporate world, intending to shift the flows to more positive outcomes for nature and society. There is a strong need to add to this work and look at the flows directed to countries, i.e., sovereign debt. I am fortunate to work precisely on this at Finance for Biodiversity. We are bringing financial institutions together to integrate nature considerations into the assessment of sovereign assets. We hope it will help mobilise resources for countries with rich biodiversity and carry meaningful biodiversity strategies. The team is top-notch. Members are very advanced in the way they approach the nature challenge. The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation is a highly stimulating environment where the most innovative thinking happens with a sense of practicality that I find so meaningful.

Where does your interest in biodiversity come from?

I have always treasured nature. I love to hike and see beautiful landscapes in the countryside, on mountain grounds (I was raised in Chamonix in the Alps), and by the ocean, where I love to sail.  Over the years, I have watched countless destructions of nature in my favourite places, melting glaciers, urban encroachment, and the pollution of waters. The list is sad. In 2019, I experienced a moment of bewilderment and clarity when the IPBES report was released, documenting the loss of nature and providing structure to thoughts lingering in my mind. From then on, I dedicated my career to helping prevent and reverse nature loss.
