Where are you living?
I have lived in London for many years, but I am originally from Oxfordshire.
What is your academic background?
I have a BA Honours in French and German from the University of Exeter in England and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public and Media Relations from Cardiff University in Wales.
Where were you working before you came here?
Most recently I was lucky enough to be able to take some time off after the birth of my second child, but before that I was working as a freelancer, managing social media and sustainability PR for SMEs in the responsible retail space.
Previously, I was Head of PR and then Head of CSR at international retail giant, Lidl, where I led a busy PR team and oversaw the production of their first Sustainability Report. My previous experience includes three years as a Communications Manager in HSBC’s Group Corporate Sustainability team and stints at various London-based PR agencies.
What makes you excited about working at the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation?
I have always been hugely passionate about the environment. This translated into a realisation fairly early on in my career that I wanted to play my part in creating a more sustainable and equitable world by helping companies and non-profits communicate their efforts in this area, as well as influencing the corporate sustainability agenda by working directly with CEOs and the boardroom. I am extremely excited about having the opportunity to do just that at Finance for Biodiversity. The financial sector has such a critical role to play in the preservation and restoration of nature and I relish the opportunity to further advance the sustainable finance agenda while working with a team of inspirational, friendly and like-minded individuals.
Where does your interest in biodiversity come from?
Since childhood, I have always felt most at peace when surrounded by nature. I was lucky to live in a semi-rural location near the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and so I learned to appreciate nature from an early age. I have also been lucky enough to travel quite extensively (pre-kids, of course!) to incredible places like Australia, New Zealand and South America, including fulfilling a life-long dream of visiting the Galapagos Islands. Seeing the native species and abundant wildlife in these beautiful places only made me more determined to play my part in helping to preserve them. But my children are my biggest inspiration. They motivate me every day to keep on fighting the good fight and protect the beauty of our incredible planet.
