Technical Associate – Real Assets
Location: Remote (EU/UK time zone only

About the role
As a Technical Associate on Real Assets, you will support our member, financial institutions such as asset managers, asset owners, banks, insurers and pension and impact funds, in addressing biodiversity-related risks, impacts, dependencies, and opportunities within real asset investments (e.g., infrastructure, real estate, forestry, agriculture).
You will help advance methodologies, guidance, and best practices in line with leading frameworks, government regulations, and voluntary commitments under the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to our working groups focused on real assets, particularly in biodiversity integration and nature-positive investing.
- Support the development of guidance documents, toolkits, and case studies on biodiversity risk management and target setting for real assets.
- Monitor relevant regulatory and policy developments, including TNFD, EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and translate these into actionable insights for members.
- Engage with leading financial institutions, sustainability experts, and standard-setting bodies to exchange knowledge and promote best practices.
- Contribute to the organisation of webinars, workshops, and working group meetings, including preparing content, briefing speakers, and facilitating discussions.
- Assist in capacity building for members through training materials and technical briefings.
Skills and experience
- Master’s degree in environmental or business studies or equivalent
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in sustainable finance, responsible investing, or real asset management, preferably with exposure to nature-related risks and opportunities.
- Solid understanding of real asset classes (infrastructure, real estate, agriculture, forestry) and their ESG risks and impacts, with a focus on biodiversity and climate.
- Knowledge of biodiversity frameworks, such as TNFD, SBTN, GBF and natural capital accounting.
- Familiarity with EU sustainable finance regulations (SFDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy) is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience working in multi-stakeholder networks.
- Ability to translate complex technical content into accessible and actionable guidance.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

- This role is compensated with a gross annual salary of €40,000–€60,000 in the Netherlands, with equivalent remuneration aligned to local cost of living in the applicant’s country of residence.
