Seventh update of the Overview of Initiatives
18 December—The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation, together with the EU B&B Platform, has today launched the seventh update of the Overview of Initiatives for Financial Institutions on Biodiversity. The timeframe of the initiative’s projects has been changed to 2024-2025. Building on this, CBD COP16 was an opportunity to strengthen GBF commitments, with decisions made to accelerate biodiversity action, adopt new conservation targets, increase financial commitments, and enhance monitoring mechanisms.
Overview of initiatives
The Overview of initiatives for financial institutions is an annually updated resource which aims to support financial institutions to identify initiatives that work on the intersection between biodiversity and finance. It was launched in April 2021 by the Business & Biodiversity Platform, Finance for Biodiversity Foundation, UNEP FI and the PRI.
This edition covers 19 finance and biodiversity initiatives in total. Relevant updates include new activities by Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) on reporting & disclosure, positive impact and public policy advocacy, and by Coalition for Private Investment in Conservation (CPIC) on target setting.
Furthermore, the update includes recent publications from most of the included initiatives.
Yearly updates
As the biodiversity movement continues to develop rapidly, we aim to update the Overview of Initiatives every year. Feedback and input to be included in the next updates of these documents can be sent to info@nextgreen.nl (Finance Workstream Lead under the EU Business & Biodiversity Platform).
