Reporting Guidance for Finance for Biodiversity Pledge Signatories
The Finance for Biodiversity (FfB) Foundations updated the Reporting Guidance for FfB Pledge Signatories, offering a clear and comprehensive resource for financial institutions committed to halting and reversing biodiversity loss. This updated guidance, building on its 2021 version, provides essential recommendations to help signatories report on their progress, emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in the finance sector’s response to the global biodiversity crisis.
As signatories to the FfB Pledge, financial institutions are taking critical steps towards protecting and restoring biodiversity. However, making a commitment is just the first step. Public reporting is crucial to ensure that these commitments lead to tangible actions, and this new guidance is designed to support signatories in reporting on areas such as impact assessment, target-setting, and engagement with companies.
The document includes best-practice examples from member institutions and provides flexibility to accommodate the diverse nature of signatories’ financial activities and organisational structures. While it outlines expectations and recommendations, the guidance is intended as a set of best practices rather than strict criteria, allowing for adaptability across different financial organisations.
The Reporting Guidance is a key resource for Pledge signatories to strengthen their biodiversity strategies and help shift the financial sector’s relationship with nature. We encourage all our signatories to use this tool as part of their broader efforts to contribute to a sustainable and biodiverse future.
