11 March 2022 – The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation and its members will take part in the 3rd Meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG3) to contribute to the negotiations on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), in Geneva from the 14th to the 19th of March, in preparation of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP15.
As an official CBD observer, the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation can participate in the negotiation process of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and will be represented by the co-chair and a member of our Public Policy Advocacy working group, Sonya Likhtman (Federated Hermes Limited) and Suresh Weerasinghe (Aviva).
Focus on financial sector negotiation topics
During the OEWG3 meetings, we will make key recommendations on the GBF, focusing on Goal D and Target 14, in order to align private and public financial flows and increase the private financial sector’s participation in resource mobilisation.
Our interventions during the meetings will be built on the recent position paper “Aligning financial flows with biodiversity goals and targets”.
