FfB Foundation supported the development of the whitepaper providing priority actions for financial institutions to address nature-related risks

FfB Foundation supported the development of the whitepaper “Financing Nature-Positive Transition: Understanding the role of banks, investors, and insurers”, developed by World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman

New nature focused paper from World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman finds leading financial institutions have begun to request nature-related data from companies. This is the first step in addressing the nature disclosure gap. This new CEO briefing paper provides key arguments and practical guidance to empower leaders to take action on nature now. It helps CEOs better understand nature finance, assess clients´ nature performance and make nature-positive financing decisions.

The paper lays out the state of nature with three key barriers to taking action by financial institutions: data availability on corporate disclosures, lack of resources, skills and expertise, and an unclear business case.

In response to this, the whitepaper seeks to:

  • Articulate key arguments for why financial institutions must take action on nature now
  • Make sense of the “nature finance” landscape and highlight crucial resources
  • Outline priorities for the WEF´s Financing the Nature-Positive Transition initiative in 2024 and 2025.
